Lockwood & Co. - Jonathan Stroud

This was a book that I didn't expect a lot from as it said on the internet that it is appropriate for children and teenagers aged between 12 and 15.
But now I can only agree with the sentence on the cover: 'Stroud is a genius'. He really is.

I liked Bartimaeus but this book was even better, it was funny, sometimes scary and absolutely intriguing.
The story takes place in London (apparently in the future) and people then suffer from a big problem. The barriers between our world and the world of the dead have for some reason fallen and the nights are reigned by ghosts, good ones and mean ones.
Lockwood & Co. is one of the agencies trying to fight the problem and the reader accompanies the protagonist Lucy who is part of the financially sturggling agency.

I really didn't think that a book for young adults could scare me, but it did. But it was not that scary that I could not read the book anymore, it was a rather entertaining fear.
The writing style is terrific and the characters are unique, especially Lockwood, the head of the agency Lockwood & Co. who is peculiar but very amiable at the same time.

I loved to read about their cases, the stories behind the ghosts and how the finale dissolved.
Actually, I can't think of any part that I didn't like about this book. I was relieved that there was no cliffhanger and this story really doesn't need one at all. I'm already looking forward to the sequel, hoping that it is not only going to be a trilogy.

I cannot say much more, just one thing: If you haven't read this book, do it now!
